Wood named federal security director for ET airports

The Transportation Security Administration has named Stephen N. Wood federal security director for McGhee Tyson, Chattanooga Metropolitan and Tri-Cities Regional airports.

Wood joined TSA in March 2008 as deputy assistant administrator of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis. He was appointed acting director of intelligence in January 2009.

"Stephen's leadership skills and experience in transportation security, intelligence, operations and crisis management will be a tremendous asset to our operations in East Tennessee," said Lee Kair, TSA's assistant administrator for security operations.

Prior to joining TSA, Wood served 24 years in the U.S. Army. In 2004 he was promoted to colonel and assigned as director of Operations J3, Joint Command Network Warfare, National Security Agency, where he led the operations of a Joint Interagency Task Force for Cyber Warfare.

Wood holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Georgia Southwestern University and a Master of Science degree in national resource strategy from National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces.


Pate continues on Beef Industry Council

Mac Pate, of Maryville, representing the American Dairy Association of Tennessee, continues his service on the Tennessee Beef Industry Council after the election of officers for the 2009-10 fiscal year.

Other area members on the board include Lafayette Williams, of Knoxville, and Mike Sharp, of Sevierville.
