Maryville is looking at a speed limit change and a limit on the use of stucco in the downtown area.
Maryville City Manager Greg McClain briefed City Council Thursday on items that will be on the Dec. 1 agenda.
Brian Boone, assistant city engineer, proposed lowering the speed limit in the heart of downtown along Broadway Avenue from 30 to 25 miles per hour.
He also discussed better marking of speed limits along Broadway Downtown. The speed limit in front of the Maryville Municipal Center is 30 miles per hour.
Proposed changes:
The limit would be lowered from 30 to 25 miles per hour between Cates and New street.
Remain 30 miles per hour in the Washington Street Corridor.
Return to 40 miles per hours at the railroad tracks on East Broadway.
The Downtown Maryville Design Review Board has recommended changes in the regulations for the five downtown zoning districts, said Tom Weitnauer, city long-range planning administrator.
One change would limit the use of stucco on outside buildings to accents.
Currently most changes downtown involve renovations to existing buildings.
