Alcoa High School football players Jaron Toney and Tyler Robinson were selected Thursday to play in the third annual East vs. West Tennessee All-Star Classic.
Toney, a senior tailback and linebacker, is one of three players listed as athletes on the East team's roster. A finalist for the Class 3A Mr. Football back award, he leads the undefeated Tornadoes this season with 40 rushing touchdowns, just three shy of the single-season state record set by Riverdale's Ralph King in 2001.
Robinson, a senior tight end and defensive end who has committed to play at the University of Kentucky next year, is one of two tight ends on the East team. A finalist for the Class 3A Mr. Football lineman award, he caught 10 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns during the regular season, and added 62 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and six sacks on defense.
Approximately 90 of Tennessee's top high school football seniors will participate in the game, which will be played at noon Dec. 12 at Carson-Newman College's Burke-Tarr Stadium and will be televised locally on MyVLT.
