Maryville girls top McMinn Central, 56-52

The Maryville High School girls basketball team erased a six-point halftime deficit with a strong third quarter to rally past McMinn Central for a 56-52 road victory Thursday night in a TSSAA Hall of Champions game.
Alex Breazeale scored a game-high 23 points for the Lady Rebels (2-0), who outscored the Chargerettes 16-8 in the third quarter. Torie Vaught added nine points, and Carrie Goodson had eight. Jenna Adams led three double-digit scorers for McMinn Central with 15 points.
Maryville, which opened its season Tuesday with a 62-36 win at Anderson County, will play its first home game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Hardin Valley.
