United Way of Blount County reaches $1.9 million campaign goal for 2009

United Way of Blount County is one of the first United Ways in East Tennessee to reach its campaign goal.
Campaign Chair John Hinkle announced Friday that the campaign had raised a total of $1,900,389. The goal was $1.9 million.
More than 100 people attended the United Way celebration as Hinkle and his campaign cabinet reported totals for each division:
Major Firms, chaired by Lea Anne Law, $831,929, for 102.7 percent of its $809,905 goal.
Commerce, chaired by Brenda Pilson, $236,519, for 102.4 percent of its $231,095 goal.
Industry, chaired by Kathy Johnson, $176,240, for 102.5 percent of its $171,880 goal.
General Business, chaired Matthew Bryan, $148,789.
Public Service, chaired by Betsy Cunningham, $208,105, which is 105.2 percent of its $197,825 goal.¬
Professionals, chaired by David Cockrill, $101,770.
Special Gifts/Residential, chaired by Becky Swann, $153,312.
The Pillars Society, chaired by Virginia Hardwick, raised $418,017. The Pillars is composed of contributors of $1,000 or more.¬ ¬
The Tocqueville Society, chaired by Kevin Clayton, raised $187,994 with 14 members who¬ contributed $10,000 or more.¬
