Announcements run each Sunday. Announcements should be e-mailed to sports@thedailytimes.com or faxed to The Daily Times at 865-981-1175. They may also be dropped off at the mail slot on the side of The Daily Times building or at the front desk during regular business hours. Notices must arrive by the Thursday before they are to run on Sunday.

Basketball

HoopItUp Basketball Academy announces plans for its upcoming winter basketball academies open to both boys and girls ages 6 and up. Space is limited so register your child today. These sessions are specifically designed for the young player who needs to develop their personal skills to prepare for their upcoming season in elementary, park & rec. Biddy league or Upward program. Sessions will run for 5 weeks and each session will be for 1 hour each. Session I began in October and Session II will begin in January. The Blount Force 14-and-under, traveling girls fastpitch softball team needs players for the upcoming season. The team is looking specifically for utility players and pitchers. Call 995-0008 for more information.

Wrestling

The Maryville Middle School AAU wrestling team will include students in fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Practice for the middle-school team will normally be on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, contact Bill Steverson at 983-9472 (home), 584-0999 (work) or 599-4405 (cell), or Mark Humphrey at 977-8174. AAU wrestling registration for students in first through fifth grades also will be held at the same time and location.
