The Tennessee women's basketball team is set for its second top-25 clash in a week and this time it's on the road.
The sixth-ranked Lady Vols take on No. 12 Virginia this afternoon in Charlottesville, Va. in a rematch of the Cavaliers 83-82 win at Thompson-Boling Arena a year ago. It was a loss for UT that foreshadowed a downward spiral that ended in the first round of the NCAA tournament and with the Lady Vols banned from their own locker room.
Now with two strong wins to start the year, including a victory over No. 8 Baylor last week, coach Pat Summitt is considering welcoming her team back into its pregame digs.
"I told them they had to win something," Summitt said after a 91-53 win over Texas Tech. "We have a couple of games coming up, so we will see what they do."
UT (2-0) can make big strides with a victory today. The game has been moved back two hours to 4 p.m. at UVA's John Paul Jones Arena to avoid a conflict with an NCAA tournament soccer game.
The Cavaliers (3-0) have already sold more than 8,000 tickets and are offering free hot dogs to all in an effort to break the school's women's basketball attendance record of 11,174.
