Maryville resident Kimberly Sue Hatcher said she was stunned when a man with a knife approached her Saturday and demanded her car keys.
"I didn't know what to think," she said. "I was running on adrenaline."
Hatcher, 48, said she gave up her keys and started for the door.
She said she had sized up the suspect, but since he had a weapon and she couldn't be sure there weren't more people involved in the alleged carjacking, she just wanted to get inside as quickly as possible.
"I was scared," she said. "All I had in my mind was, 'Just get away from him.'"
Before she made it to the door, the suspect allegedly pushed her down.
She was taken to by Rural/Metro to Blount Memorial Hospital, where she said she got stitches in her knee and hand.
Monday evening, Blount County Sheriff James Berrong announced that three people -- including a 16-year-old boy -- have been arrested and charged in connection with the early morning carjacking. A fourth suspect is still on the run.
Christopher Douglas Dotson, 21, Walnut Street, Maryville, is charged with aggravated robbery, theft of property over $10,000 and theft of property over $10,000 by possession.
Brittney Renee Loser, 18, North Wright Road, Alcoa, was charged with criminal responsibility for facilitation of a felony -- theft of a motor vehicle greater than $10,000, and criminal responsibility for facilitation of a felony -- aggravated robbery.
A 16-year-old boy was also charged with aggravated robbery by delinquency, theft of a motor vehicle over $10,000 by delinquency, and theft of property over $10,000 by possession by delinquency.
Dotson and Loser are being held in the Blount County Adult Detention Facility. Bond amounts and court dates were not set as of Monday evening.
Authorities said the investigation is still ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
