General Motors has awarded Twin City Buick the GMC franchise on the Airport Motor Mile in Alcoa.

Jerry Hodge. president of Twin City Dealerships, said Tuesday that the new branding by General Motors will strengthen the dealership as Twin City Buick-GMC offers a broader-based lineup of vehicles.

"We are very fortunate to be chosen to represent GMC products in our market," Hodge said in a prepared statement. "GMC has a great line of trucks and SUVs with a large customer base to serve including sales and service.

"We realize we have a big obligation to continue the superior sales and service experience of the former GMC dealership."

That former dealership being Delmar Haynes Pontiac GMC Jeep, which closed in June after General Motors announced it would discontinue the Pontiac brand, and Chrysler pulled its Jeep brand from Delmar Haynes.

"The biggest thing is it keeps a GMC representation in Blount County," Hodge said. "That's what we were working for and we're proud of it."
