The Maryville girls basketball team defeated visiting Hardin Valley, 66-44, on Tuesday night with strong play in the first and fourth quarters.
The Lady Hawks made it interesting, though, outscoring the Lady Rebels in the second and third quarters.
"It's early and it's a process," said Maryville coach Kim Bledsoe. "We've got to be more consistent for four quarters in a row."
Maryville jumped out to a big lead, finishing 24-7 in the first quarter.
Alex Breazeale and Carrie Goodson put up six points each in the first quarter. Breazeale paced the team with 16 points and 11 rebounds on the night. Hardin Valley appeared to have no answer for post player Torie Vaught, who had 13 points and seven rebounds in the game.
Rebels 93, Hardin Valley 54
Maryville overwhelmed the Hardin Valley boys team Friday, 93-54. The Rebels will next play on Friday at 1:30 p.m. against Jefferson County in the Heritage Thanksgiving Tournament.
