The Rotary Club of Maryville honored the late J.N. Badgett Jr. and his family at its meeting on Nov. 12 by presenting Blanche Badgett with the Rotary Foundation Major Donor crystal and pendant signifying and remembering J. N.'s lifelong support for Rotary and the Foundation.
J. N. Badgett, Jr. was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Maryville in 1950. He loved Rotary and especially the Rotary Foundation and was an active supporter of the Foundation both financially and programmatically.
He became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1981 -- one of the first in his club to achieve this recognition. He was a member of the Paul Harris Society. He encouraged others to give to the Foundation and often donated Recognition Points so that others could become Paul Harris Fellows.
Badgett wrote his final check to the Rotary Foundation in May, shortly before his unexpected death. It was that final check that brought him to the level of Major Donor with lifetime contributions to the Foundation exceeding $10,000.
