A Blount County man has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, after allegedly holding his mother against her will Saturday night.
Chad Edward Brewer, 32, France Lane, Maryville allegedly asked his mother, Deborah Brewer, 52, to take him to a friend's house. When she got in the vehicle he pulled out a gun and told her he was planning to kill himself.
She told police that her son would not let her out of the vehicle and, after picking up another man, forced her to drive them to Chapman Highway in Knoxville. She was not hurt during the incident.
Brewer is being held on a $50,000 bond in the Blount County Detention Facility pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 1:30 p.m. December 7.
He is also being held on outstanding warrants for simple possession and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
The other man involved in the incident, Joseph Burl Russell, 38, Samuel Circle, Maryville, was not charged in the kidnapping, but he had several non-prescribed scheduled narcotics on his possession. He is being held at the Blount County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $4,000 pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. December 2.
