Walland, Townsend schools closed Wednesday

Townsend and Walland elementary schools will be closed Wednesday due to water pressure problems.
Tuckaleechee Utility District officials today contacted school-level administrators and Blount County Director of Schools Rob Britt about conditions that could create low water pressure at the schools and possibly prevent school officials from holding classes, said Dr. Jane Morton, the system’s communications director.
Britt later decided to cancel classes, Morton said. Parents have been notified about the school closings, she said.
