"And for Best Overall Beverage Program, the winner is -- Ruby Tuesday."

The contest is the 2010 Cheers Beverage Excellence Awards. Ruby Tuesday will accept the award at the awards conference to be held Jan. 25-26 in Miami.

The Maryville-based casual dining chain announced the award this way: "Ruby Tuesday has been recognized by Cheers magazine for something its customers have known for a while: it has the best overall beverage program."

"We are honored that Ruby Tuesday has been recognized by Cheers as the best overall among chain operators across the nation, and are proud of our team's never-ending commitment to quality, freshness, variety and value," said Andy Scoggins, vice president of Culinary and Beverage for Ruby Tuesday Inc.

In November, Ruby Tuesday introduced its 'all day, every day, $5 premium cocktail' program. The beverage upgrades have been supported with a retraining program for every Ruby Tuesday bartender. Program enhancements resulted in an overall increase in sales of beer, wine, spirits and alcohol-free drinks, according to the company.

Other companies with Blount County outlets that won 2010 Cheers Excellence awards include Hilton Hotels Corp., for Best Chain Beverage Merchandising, and O'Charley's, for Best Chain Multi-Concept Beverage Program.
