Juniors at Alcoa High School were set to take the TCAP Writing Assessment this week. This test is administered by the state of Tennessee to all fifth-, eighth-, and 11th-graders to check on the school's progress to meeting Tennessee standards. For their assessment, juniors have 35 minutes to write a persuasive, five-paragraph essay over a given topic. They do not know the topic until they are handed the test. The test will then be scored on a scale of one to six, six being the highest, by a panel of readers. Students will receive their scores near the end of the school year. Good luck to everyone taking this exam!
AHS seniors are currently selling tickets for a Pancake Breakfast that will take place at Aubrey's in Maryville on Feb. 13 from 8-10 a.m. Tickets are $5 each and proceeds will go to the 2010 Prom. Please see an AHS senior for more information.
Parents, this week is Progress Report Week. Students will be sent home with their Progress Reports on Friday, Feb. 5. Please make sure to look for them!
