First Tennessee overall winner at Chamber Excellence Awards

The awards season is upon us, and Thursday at the Airport Hilton was the Blount County Chamber of Commerce's turn to celebrate at its 90th annual meeting.
First Tennessee, winner in the Service Category, was named the Overall Winner of the Business Excellence Awards.
The bank can add those honors to numerous accolades it received in 2009: Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace in Tennessee, one of the Top 50 Companies for Executive Women, one of the Best Employers in Tennessee, among Working Mother magazine's 100 Best Companies and one of AARP's Best Employers for Workers Over 50.
Other Business in Excellence Award categories and winners:
— Retail — Capitol Theatre;
— Manufacturing — Newell Rubbermaid/Sanford Brand;
— Nonprofit/Government — Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County Parks and Recreation Commission.
Individuals honored:
— Dean Stone Excellence in Tourism Award — Bob Sullivan of Bank East;
— Chamber Ambassador of the Year — Chris Gambill of Chris Gambill Database Consultants;
— Above & Beyond Board Member of the Year — Sherri Gardner Howell of Blount Today.
