Planning is under way for the annual Alcoa and Maryville Rotary Auction scheduled at 6 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Airport Hilton.
This year's theme is “Hillbilly Hoedown” and will include the local Sullivan family playing country music during the silent auction.
The auction will feature hundreds of items including getaways, sports memorabilia, event tickets and merchandise.
Auction goers are invited to wear “Hillbilly Hoedown” attire for the evening which will begin with heavy hors D'oeuvres, cash bar, music and the silent auction.
Auctioneer Steve Samples will preside at the live auction climaxing the event.
Tickets are $35 with all proceeds benefiting the Rotary Clubs' local projects which include special dictionaries for all third graders in Blount County, college scholarships, Adopt-a-School as well as international projects such as polio eradication and clean water.
Rotarians are soliciting corporate and individual sponsors at the Platinum ($1,000), Gold ($500), Silver ($250) and Bronze ($100) levels as well as new items to be auctioned. To support the auction or for more information call David Gill, 865-380-6246, or Donna Hammontree, 865-983-0261.
