Blount County school officials need the help of parents, teachers and students to complete an evaluation of the system's current high school schedules.
Dr. Bob Lovingood — former superintendent for the Monroe County School System and Christian County Public Schools in Kentucky — was hired to conduct two independent studies for the school system.
Lovingood recently completed his central office review and presented his findings to board members last week. School board members also requested a study to determine if a school's class schedule can provide statistically significant differences in achievement.
Lovingood is researching four schedule types: the 4x4 block, A/B block schedule, combination schedule and the six- to seven-period school day.
The surveys are available online at http://survey.blountk12.org. Hard copies can be found in the system's central offices located at 831 Grandview Drive in Maryville. All surveys are anonymous.
