Incumbent Wendy Pitts Reeves to announce election plans

Wendy Pitts Reeves, Blount County Commissioner for District 4, Seat C, will announce her plans for the 2010 general election at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Blount County Library. Reeves has not yet announced what office she will seek.
In other election news, Tom Cole, a Republican, has taken out a petition to qualify for County Commission District 7, Seat B, held by David Graham, who is not seeking re-election.
Richard C. Hutchens, an independent, has taken out a petition for County Commission District 3, Seat A, held by Steve Samples.
Sheri Turner, a Republican, has taken out a petition for County Commission District 6, Seat A, held by Holden Lail.
The qualifying deadline for the county primary is noon on Feb. 18. It requires 25 valid signatures from voters to qualify. Potential candidates have until the qualifying deadline to take out petitions. The first day to take out qualifying petitions for the state primary was Jan. 1.
