Blount County residents can now recycle items that are normally thought of as unrecyclable.
Keep Blount Beautiful is partnering with Terracycle to recycle corks, gum packaging, nutrition bar wrappers and cell phones.
TerraCycle makes affordable, eco-friendly products from a wide range of different nonrecyclable waste materials. With over 50 products available at major retailers, TerraCycle is one of the fastest growing eco-friendly manufacturers in the world.
Keep Blount Beautiful has signed up to collect:
— Wine corks — natural or synthetic
— Energy, granola, nutrition, cereal and protein bar wrapper with an inner foil lining (will not accept wrappers that do not have the foil lining or candy wrappers of any kind).
— Trident, Bubblicious, Dentyne Ice & Stride gum packaging (will not accept any items where gum is present).
— Cell phones, cell phone batteries and accessories. Make sure to delete all personal information.
