Teenagers ages 14 to 17 who are interested in working at Blount Memorial Hospital this summer are invited to apply for the junior volunteer program. Applications for the program now are available at Blount Memorial Hospital and can be picked up in the volunteer services department, or at any information desk.

The purpose of the program is to extend an opportunity for health care exploration and work experience. Junior volunteers will observe and learn, but also will assist with basic jobs such as making informational packets, learning about customer service and answering phones.

Those interested in nursing care will get to work with a CNA (certified nursing assistant) or an LPN (licensed practical nurse). The program will give volunteers the chance to not only develop interests and job skills, but also make new friends, build self-esteem and gain a sense of satisfaction from helping others.

Applications are available now and will be accepted through March 30. Applicants must reach age 14 by June 1 and cannot be 18 years old or older. All junior volunteers must complete an interview, orientation and training process. Returning volunteers must notify the volunteer services office if they would like to return. Parental permission is required. For more information, contact the Blount Memorial volunteer services office at 865-977-5609.
