Maryville Acupuncture is accepting patients starting today, June 21, at 423 S. Washington St., Maryville.

The clinic is a general care clinic and treats symptoms such as pain, arthritis, headaches, digestive issues and other internal conditions.

“I am very excited to be bringing acupuncture to the Maryville community. With the recent opioid epidemic, many patients and doctors are looking for other options to treat pain. We offer a safe and effective treatment for pain and many other conditions,” Sarah Prater, L.Ac., said in a news release.

Acupuncture has been identified as an effective treatment for pain and is being recommended for increased inclusion in pain management, according to the release, which said  the Acupuncture Evidence Project identifies some degree of effectiveness for 117 different conditions and has been shown to be safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist.
