McGhee Tyson Airport’s airline year-over-year passenger traffic has now grown for 40 consecutive months.

The airport reported serving 233,423 passengers during August, an increase of 21.3% when compared to August 2018, Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority President Patrick Wilson said in his October report.

August 2019’s traffic marks the third-busiest month in the airport’s history, behind July 2019 as the first and June 2019 as the second-busiest.

The airport’s combined load factor was 79.6%, with individual carriers reporting load factors: Allegiant (74%), American (80%), Delta (86%), Frontier (79%) and United (81%).

McGhee Tyson handed 10,810 flight operations during August.

The airport’s cargo airlines, led by FedEx and UPS, handled nearly 7.8 million pounds of air cargo and mail in August.
