Seymour Volunteer Fire Department held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for the expansion of SVFD’s Station No. 2 located at 7915 Chapman Highway, Knoxville.
This expansion is phase one of the SVFD capital campaign to enlarge the Station No. 2 location to keep up with the community’s growth in both residential and commercial properties.
In the early 1980s, SVFD expanded to the property now known as Station No. 2 because of its location in Knox County and close access for response into Blount County.
Today, Station No. 2 houses SVFD’s administrative office and serves the residents of Knox, Blount and Sevier counties. In 2019 though June 30, SVFD has responded to 368 emergency calls out of a call volume of 1,118, and 386 of those have been answered from Station No. 2.
