On Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m., local authors Liz and Todd Chancey will hold a book signing as they debut their new book, “God in the Midst of Thorns: A Journey of Faith, Hope, Strength and Justice” at the Blount County Library. The “Friends of the Library” will host the event.

The Chanceys will speak about their book starting at 6:30 p.m. and a book signing will follow until 8:30 p.m. To benefit the library, $5 from the sale of each book will be donated to the library. The Chanceys’ book is inspired by a true story, all the names and places had to be changed and the book was written under the pen names Christopher and Hilda Talley. The Chanceys live in Alcoa. Todd is the pastor at Alcoa First United Methodist Church.

One Tennessee resident explained, “This novel follows the love of a couple for each other, family and God as they journey through the aftermath of a workplace ‘accident’ caused by negligence and incompetence. The courtroom sections left me stunned. The medical issues left me speechless. The questions at the back of the book caused me to take a deep look at my own faith and wonder ‘How would I have responded?’ Very inspiring for anyone, especially someone going through a difficult situation. Reminds us that God is there, moving, even when we may not feel his presence for a time.”
