Two free preparatory classes for the April 14 state math contest will be held for Alcoa High School students who intend to compete. The classes will be given on continuous Saturdays from Jan. 11 to April 18 at the Blount County Public Library. Hours are 10 a.m. to noon for Algebra I, and noon to 2 p.m. for Geometry. Applicants must have completed the full school course by the time of the first class.

All classes will be taught by Jerry Williams, an AHS graduate and retired engineer. Preregistration is required. Contact Williams at 865-984-5619 by Dec. 15.
