Darrell Winfree, an attorney from the Legal Aid of East Tennessee, will provide free legal advice and assistance for basic legal questions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Blount County Public Library.
He will offer brief advice on topics such as adoption, child custody and support, evictions, divorce, elder law, foreclosure, identity theft, personal injury, veterans benefits, wills, workers' compensation and more. Appointments are not necessary but it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
For some issues with which LAET helps he may provide referrals to LAET’s intake process. This will enable an appropriate match with other attorneys.
Some legal issues are too involved for LAET, but Winfree will be able to offer basic advice about the issues being faced.
Open to the public, this program will be in the library’s Main Gallery and is hosted by the Blount County Public Library, located at 508 N. Cusick St., Maryville.
