Smoky Mountain Service Dogs, a local nonprofit that provides service dogs to wounded veterans at no cost to them, is hosting its largest fundraiser, "Night for Patriots." The event will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at The Venue Events Center, 7690 Creekwood Park Blvd. in Lenoir City.

There will be music, silent auction, dinner, cash bar and guest speaker, retired U.S. Army General Bryan Brown. Among Brown's commands were U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Joint Special Operations Command and 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. In addition, U.S. Air Force veteran Cheryl Happel will talk about life before Chance, her SMSD companion.

Tickets are $120 per person. Mail check for tickets to SMSD, 110 Tooweka Circle, Loudon, TN 37774. Tickets will be mailed.
