The theme for this year's Jaycees Christmas Parade is “Songs for Christmas.” The Jaycees encourage people to decorate their floats as their favorite Christmas song and sing carols along the parade route.

This year, the parade will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, with a rain date the following day beginning at 3 p.m. on Dec. 8.

Entry categories for the parade include walking groups, horses, motorcycles, four-wheelers, tractors, floats (vehicle and trailer), antique cars and local businesses. Entry fees are calculated at around $1 per foot.

The parade route will be the same as in previous years. It will begin on Joule Street and cross Calderwood Street into New Midland Plaza. It will go through New Midland Plaza then turn right onto Calderwood Avenue (North Cusick Street in Maryville). At the top of the hill, it will turn right onto West Broadway Avenue, right onto West Lamar Alexander Parkway and end at New Providence Presbyterian Church.

Applications for the parade are available at The Daily Times (front desk), New Midland Plaza office and the Blount County Chamber of Commerce. Registration and payment can also be made online at Applications can be mailed back to Blount County Jaycees, PO Box 491, Alcoa, TN. 37701.
