Following a fatal shooting Friday, May 20 at a hotel on U.S. Highway 129, Alcoa Police officers arrested Michael Anthony Huerta, 20, and charged him with criminal homicide.
Alcoa Police and firefighters say that they arrived at the OYO Hotel McGhee Tyson Airport at about 10:45 p.m. to find that a man had been shot. The man was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center via AMR; soon after arriving at the hospital, he was pronounced dead.
Police say that their investigation of the case led them to Huerta, whom they charged with criminal homicide. Huerta was arrested at 3:24 p.m. Saturday, May 22 and booked into Blount County jail, where he is being held on a $750,000 bond pending a 1:30 p.m. June 13 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
