The Blount County Sheriff's Office will have a "Pretty in Pink-Fierce in Blue" Coffee With a Cop event, honoring women in law enforcement, from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 12 at Vienna Coffee House, 212 College St., Maryville.

The public is invited to meet female deputies and to discuss BCSO's employment opportunities for women.

Females currently are sought for corrections and patrol positions.

Women now represent about 13% of law enforcement officers nationwide, the BCSO says.

[batman] This is so sexist. Or say men are Pretty in pink - Fierce in blue. This is a bad and sexist campaign that was obviously created by a uninformed man. Coffee with a cop is cool, but not this sexist campaign. This also speaks volumes about the community leaders who hold positions of power. It is concerning.
