A homeowner shot and killed a bear in Blount County late Wednesday, an official said.

Matthew Cameron, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency Region Four information coordinator, said the bear showed no fear of humans and tried to attack the homeowner's pet.

The homeowner fired at least one warning shot to scare the bear away, but the bear came closer. At that point, the homeowner shot and killed the bear. An off-duty officer reported a similar story to the homeowner's.
