Brackins Blues Bar

Visitors to downtown Maryville on Sunday discovered that the brick facade had collapsed at Brackins Blues Club, 112 E. Broadway Ave. The bar was supposed to open at 2 p.m. Sunday, but the front door was taped off all day. Calls to the Maryville Fire Department were not returned.

Brackins Blues Club was silent Tuesday as owners waited for structural engineers to complete their assessment of the building’s damage.

“The building is condemned at this point until the building is declared safe,” Maryville spokeswoman Jane Groff said Tuesday afternoon.

Dispatchers received a call Sunday that the building’s facade had crumbled and fallen off of the building, blocking East Broadway and requiring traffic to be diverted.

No injuries or damage to other businesses surrounding the site were reported during the incident, which occurred before business hours.

The building’s owner, Walker Johnson, could not be reached Tuesday for comment.
