A 26-year-old man is dead after a stabbing Tuesday night at a local hotel.

Blount County E-911 dispatchers received a call around 9:25 p.m. after a man was stabbed in a second-story room at the WoodSprings Suites, 4412 Singleton Station Road, Louisville.

He was found in an elevator.

Alcoa Police Detective Jeff Parsons said the victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, but died of his injuries.

“We have one suspect in custody,” Parsons said.

Further details, including the names of both individuals, will be released later, Parsons added.

Investigators are facing a language barrier — the suspect does not speak English, and requires outside assistance.

“We contacted a Maryville Police detective who helped with translation,” Parsons said.

Autopsy results are pending.
