A Maryville woman remains in the Blount County Correctional Facility after she reportedly attempted to smother her mother early Tuesday.
Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said 18-year-old Alexandra Kathryn Pavelcik was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault after her mother reported the attack.
“We got a call about 1 a.m from her mother,” Crisp said. “She was asleep on the couch and was awakened by her daughter on top of her with pillow over her face. We found her daughter two blocks away.”
The 61-year-old victim told police she passed out after the attack.
Pavelcik reportedly told police she held the pillow over her mother’s face to make her pass out so she could leave the home.
Crisp said Pavelcik had packed a bag to take with her.
Police also found a knife laying next to the pillow.
Pavelcik was being held on a $25,000 bond pending a hearing a 9 a.m. hearing Aug. 15 in Blount County General Sessions Court.
