A Powell woman has died after an early-morning crash on Alcoa Highway that left three others with injuries, some life threatening.

Alcoa Police said in a statement released Saturday afternoon that they encountered a single-car wreck at 3:13 a.m. on Alcoa Highway at Buick Drive. A 25-year-old woman was transported to the UT Medical Center, but she died of her injuries.

Three other people were in the car, including a A 31-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both from Knoxville, the statement said. They are both in critical condition.

An 18-year-old Knoxville man also was injured in the wreck and is in serious but stable condition at UT Medical Center.

Alcoa police and fire and AMR ambulance services responded to the scene.

The crash is still under investigation, the statement said, and Alcoa police are encouraging anyone who may have seen it to contact the department at 865-981-4111.
