The expected closure of the main access road to Cataloochee in Great Smoky Mountains National Park has been postponed, park officials said Friday.

The county road just outside the park on the North Carolina side, Cove Creek Road, was expected to be closed Nov. 1 through Feb. 29 for a road slide repair by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The roadwork has been postponed and the Cataloochee area will remain open and accessible throughout the fall and early winter, aside from weather-related closures.

For more information about the roadwork schedule, contact the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
