The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fire that damaged a Rockford home Monday afternoon.

“The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and there were no fatalities or injuries,” BCSO spokeswoman Marian O’Briant said.

Blount County Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Phillips said the department was called to the home on 316 Rockford Walker Court at 5:46 p.m. and arrived on scene in four minutes.

“We had it controlled at 6:24 p.m., and it was out at 7:05 p.m.,” Phillips said.

Phillips said six trucks and 14 firefighters responded, along with several deputies.

The fire’s cause hasn’t been determined, Phillips said.

“It was confined to the interior and about 50% of the house was damaged,” Phillips said.

O’Briant said more information will be released later.
