A 50-year Amerine Road resident was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence after a three-car wreck at East Broadway Avenue and North Fifth Street.
Two drivers and a passenger told Maryville Police a white vehicle crossed a center line and hit them, then drove off toward the roundabout.
An officer stopped William Boling’s 2004 Toyota Sequoia at the Fairpark Plaza entrance near Third Street after spotting damage to the front driver’s side, according to reports.
When Boling refused to stop, the officer cut him off and blocked his car with his patrol vehicle.
Boling reportedly told officers he’s an insulin-dependent diabetic but had used opiates or morphine a few days earlier after a syringe, a metal spoon and a filter were found in his car.
He was arrested at 4:48 p.m and also charged with driving on a suspended license.
Boling was released Wednesday on $2,500 in combined bonds pending 9 a.m. hearings May 21 in Blount County General Sessions Court.
