Two drivers were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision on Topside Road.
One driver was trapped inside his vehicle following the accident, which occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Topside Road near Lakeside Drive.
Alcoa firefighters had to cut off a door to free the trapped driver. He and the driver of the other vehicle involved were both transported by ambulance to area hospitals.
Alcoa Police Capt. David Carswell said injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The drivers were the sole occupants of each vehicle. Their names were not released Tuesday.
The Alcoa Fire Department sent five firefighters to the scene.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. The Alcoa Police Department is investigating.
