Dear Editor:

It has been suggested that President Trump’s edict for a Washington, D.C., Fourth of July military parade of tanks and other military hardware is his dream of being known as a military strongman like his apparent idols Vladimir Putin and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Isn’t this hypocritical when Trump, who attended a military high school and had a chance to display his own military prowess during the Vietnam War, instead became a draft-dodging coward by using his father’s wealth and influence to escape military service because of a so-called “bone spur” in his foot? He now says Vietnam was not his favorite war.
