Dear Editor:

The Nov. 14 article on the continuing progress of elected officials moving forward with the fireworks laws in Maryville and Alcoa was very informative. I am very discouraged and perplexed as to why county-elected folks have demonstrated no courage to amend and fix this same problem.

If these officials won't do it for the safety of themselves, their neighborhoods, pastures, farmlands and the well-being of pets and wildlife, how about for the multitudes of returning veterans with PTSD, et al.? Please give us a reason to reelect proactive officials.
