Dear Editor:

I am responding to the op-ed by Buzz Thomas and the letter by Bob Hayes in support of Thomas' article. It is true that Jesus never spoke about homosexuality, but the Bible is very clear on the subject. Surely these ministers know that Jesus is God incarnate who came to Earth to die for sinful man.

If this is true, then the Bible is the word of Jesus/God and given to the many writers of the Bible. Thomas' op-ed is very deceptive if not flat-out false.

1. 1 John 4:20 says "Whoever claims to love God yet hates another brother or sister is a liar." I share this verse to say that those protesters at the Pride event who used disparaging or hateful words or signs toward any person are not true Christians.

2. Here's the truth about homosexuality: 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says, "Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." Also see Leviticus 18:22, 1 Timothy 1:10 and Romans 1:26, among others.

3. And finally, 2 Timothy 4 says, "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths."

In other words, be aware of and flee from false teachers.
