“I was helped once when I was in need, I try to give back when I can.”

“I bought for a boy and a girl; I don’t even have kids, just try to do my part.”

“I used to drive a bus; I love to help the kids.”

These are only a few of the comments we heard recently during the annual Blount County Education Foundation Stuff the Bus event for Blount County Schools.

For several years the BCEF has organized the event to collect necessary school supplies for kids in need. Year after year, the kind citizens in our community support the cause by dropping off school supplies or monetary donations at the bus. Volunteers deliver the donated items to all 21 schools in the Blount County school system.

Because of our generous community, the teachers at each school are able to provide each student in need all the school supplies necessary to start the school year right. In addition to our volunteers, we are grateful for the services provided by Boring Bus Service and our community partners, Pat McGill of Reality Executives and Walmart.

On behalf of the BCEF board and Executive Director Steve Stout, we simply want to say thank you to our community for caring about the children. We truly are blessed to live in such a caring community.
