Dear Editor:

It has been 50 years since tragedy struck at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego on Dec. 22, 1969. At this time of year, the memory of that day comes home to me. I can't come up with words adequate enough for a loss like this, except my hope is that the years have been kind to the families of those who died, and that those who were injured made a full recovery long ago.

May God grant eternal rest to those gone and comfort to their families. Let us not forget the sacrifices made every day by our men and women in the military all around the world.
