Dear Editor:

Thank you to the community for contributing to our annual Trick or Cans event. The purpose is to collect cans of food for the Community Food Connection. We had several groups collect cans, including Maryville High School sports, clubs and Girl Scout troops. More than 2,200 pounds of food was collected in Maryville neighborhoods on Halloween.

The leadership team for Trick or Cans would like to thank the community for always supporting this event because it teaches us how to be leaders and coordinate a citywide event. With this being said, we realize that some houses had cans out that were never picked up, and we sincerely apologize if our groups missed any donations. But thanks to everyone for donating and helping make this event a success.

A special thanks to our sponsors: Pokey’s Sports, Vienna Coffee House, Roost, Auto Pro, Wright Way Fitness, Women’s Care Group and LeConte Wealth Management. The Community Food Connection, at 311 Witecrest Drive in Maryville, can always use your donations, especially this holiday season.
