Dear Editor:

I am writing to publicly thank those who contributed to the Veterans Day program at William Blount High School on Nov. 8. The program from the breakfast and entry to the gym (with every student clapping) to the closing ceremony retiring the colors was simply amazing, impactful and inspiring to each veteran and family member who attended.

The respect shown the veterans was very moving. The Air Force JROTC, Band, Choir, faculty and staff, cafeteria staff and Blount County Veterans Affairs Office made this happen. It was very evident that the students who participated had practiced very hard and made their flawless presentations. Thanks also to CMSgt. Art Hafner USAF (ret) for his remarks.

Many do not know that we have more than 10,000 veterans living in Blount County. I am proud to be a veteran living in Blount County.
