Tennessee is among the most tax-friendly states in the nation, according to a new WalletHub report.

The annual state tax rate report, which measures state and local rates against national medians, has listed Tennessee as having the sixth least burdensome tax rate, with its residents paying about 25 percent less in combined taxes than most American families.

Tennessee has one of the highest average combined state and local sales tax rates in the nation, according to a recent Tax Foundation report.

With a state tax rate of 7 percent and an average local tax rate of 2.46 percent, the Tax Foundation has listed Tennessee as having the second highest combined sales tax rate in the country at 9.46 percent.
