The Maryville College women's basketball team surrendered 44 second-half points in a 68-56 loss to Southern Virginia on Saturday in the Pat Deacon Classic championship in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Scots (5-2) forced 14 first-half turnovers and limited the Knights (6-1) to 34.8% shooting through the first two quarters, but an 11-0 run after halftime was the catalyst for a resurgent offensive performance for Southern Virginia.

The Knights shot 58.1% in the second half.

Junior guard Elsa Eckenrod tallied a team-high 15 points while Heritage alum Libby Gardner added 12 points and eight assists.

Maryville hosts Brevard in its home opener at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
