The Alcoa and Maryville girls soccer teams will have to wait another week to play for a state championship.

The TSSAA on Monday afternoon announced the postponement of this week's state tournament due to field conditions at Siegel Soccer Complex and the projected weather forecast in Murfreesboro for Wednesday and Thursday when the first-round and semifinal games were originally scheduled to be played.

Instead, the entire tournament has been moved to next week with the same schedule. Division I quarterfinals will be played on Nov. 6 and semifinals on Nov. 7. Championship games are scheduled for Nov. 9.

Maryville will open the Class AAA Tournament against Science Hill at 1:30 p.m. (CT) on Nov. 6.

Alcoa will play its Class A Tournament opener against Merrol Hyde at 7 p.m. (CT) on Nov. 6.

"We regret any inconvenience this causes and appreciate everyone's understanding as we work through this difficult and unavoidable situation," the TSSAA stated in a release.
